Uploading a promotion file allows for more precise budgeting because it incorporates promotion increase guidelines for employees identified as getting promoted.

Uploading Promotions (Recommended):

  1. Download the promotion template by clicking “Upload Promotions

  2. Enter the  Employee ID and Employee Name for employees who are getting promoted.

  3. Upload the completed promotions template into Kamsa.

    • Once you upload the template, the Promotions button will turn green and display the uploaded date when you hover over it.

How Uploaded Promotions Upload Impacts the Comp Review Budget:

  • Uploading the list of employees who you know will be getting promoted during the planning process helps Kamsa calculate the budget for your Salary Review and/or Equity Review more precisely.

  • If known promotions are uploaded, Comp Reviewers will see those employees marked for promotion in the Comp Review. Leaders can then enter their new title and job level in the Comp Review, and Kamsa will update the Recommended New Base Salary, accordingly.

  • Once you have started a Comp Review, you will be able to add/edit promotions, but those changes will not impact the budget. Therefore, it’s important to make sure all promotions uploaded are as accurate as possible before starting the Comp Review.

  • Once a promotion file is uploaded, Kamsa calculates and factors into the budget the Promotion Increase (% of salary) entered (by country).

Note:  If you don't know who will be promoted yet, you can add a Promotion Budget (% of Payroll) by country for Kamsa to estimate a promotion budget as a percentage of payroll. If no promotion file is uploaded, Kamsa distributes the Promotion Budget (as a % of Payroll) you enter, across all Comp Reviewers.

We highly recommend uploading known promotions whenever possible since by doing so, it allows you to budget more precisely for promotions (i.e., ensure you have enough for all promotions).

When the Comp Review starts:

  • The "Promotion" toggle will automatically be set to "Yes" for employees included in the Promotion upload file.

  • For any employees being promoted, their New Kamsa Job Match will pre-populate with the next job level up (same job family they are in currently).

    • Comp Reviewers and/or Admins should review all New Kamsa Job Match for employees being promoted to ensure it’s accurate (i.e., for IC to manager level or to a different job family).

  • The Market Base Salary for employees getting promotion will display based on their New Kamsa Job Match

  • Promotions can be added or removed within the Comp Review once it has started, but those changes will not impact the budget.

  • Comp Reviewers can also promote any other ineligible employee, but the budget won’t account for these unplanned promotions.
